Carwraps.net ("we," "us," or "our") operates a directory that helps drivers find automotive wrap, paint protection, window tinting, detailing, and related services. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use www.carwraps.net (the "Site"), how we use and share it, and the choices you have. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information we collect

Information you provide directly.

• Business submissions: if you add a business through our Add Your Business form, we collect the details you submit — business name, address, phone number, email, website, service categories, specialties, description, hours of operation, and social media handles. This information is intended for public display once approved.
• Reviews: if you submit a review of a listed business, we collect the name you provide, your rating, and the text of your review, which are displayed publicly after moderation.
• Accounts: if you create a business-owner account, we collect your name, email address, and password (stored in hashed form — we never see or store your plain-text password).
• Correspondence: if you email us (support@carwraps.net), we keep the correspondence and your contact details to respond to you.

Information collected automatically.

• Approximate location: to show businesses near you and center the map on your area, the Site estimates your general location (city-level) using Google's geolocation services. This estimate is cached in your browser's session storage and is not stored on our servers. You can use the Site fully without it by simply typing a location into the search bar.
• Usage and device data: like most websites, our hosting and infrastructure providers automatically log basic technical data such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and timestamps for security, performance, and troubleshooting purposes.
• Local storage: we use browser session storage to cache map coordinates, geocoding results, and category data so pages load faster. These entries stay on your device and expire when you close your browser or after a set period.

2. How we use information

• To operate the directory — displaying business listings, maps, search results, and reviews.
• To review, approve, and publish business submissions and reviews.
• To personalize your experience, such as showing shops near your detected or chosen location.
• To respond to inquiries and provide support.
• To maintain the security, reliability, and performance of the Site.
• To comply with legal obligations.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. How information is shared

• Public content: approved business listings and reviews are public by design and visible to anyone on the internet, including search engines.
• Service providers: we rely on trusted third parties to run the Site — Vercel (web hosting and content delivery), Railway (database hosting via PocketBase), and Google Maps Platform (maps, geocoding, and approximate geolocation). These providers process technical data only as needed to deliver their services, under their own privacy policies.
• Legal requirements: we may disclose information if required by law, court order, or to protect the rights, safety, and property of our users or the public.

4. Cookies and tracking

The Site itself does not set advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. We use browser session storage for functional purposes only (location caching, category data, performance). Third-party services embedded in the Site, such as Google Maps, may set their own cookies subject to Google's privacy policy. You can control cookies and clear site data at any time through your browser settings; the Site remains usable with cookies disabled.

5. Data retention

Public listing and review content remains published for as long as the listing is active or until removal is requested and verified. Account data is retained while your account exists. Server logs held by our infrastructure providers are retained according to their standard rotation schedules. Browser-side caches expire automatically.

6. Your rights and choices

• Access and correction: business owners can request corrections to their listing at any time by contacting us. Reviewers may request edits or removal of their own reviews.
• Deletion: you may request deletion of your account or personal information by emailing support@carwraps.net. We will verify the request and respond within 30 days.
• Location: approximate location detection can be avoided by entering a location manually; you may also clear cached location data via your browser.
• California residents: the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA) grants rights to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as defined by the CCPA. To exercise your rights, contact support@carwraps.net.
• EU/UK visitors: where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, our processing is based on legitimate interests (operating a public directory), consent (where requested), and legal obligations. You have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, and objection, and the right to lodge a complaint with your supervisory authority.

7. Business listing data

Carwraps.net lists publicly available business information (name, address, phone, website, hours, services) compiled from business submissions and public sources. If you represent a listed business and want your listing corrected or removed, email support@carwraps.net from a business-associated address and we will process the request promptly.

8. Children's privacy

The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. Security

We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) across the entire Site, hashed password storage, and access controls on our database. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information using reasonable technical and organizational measures.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
