New Jersey publishes no VLT percentage for ordinary drivers. Its rule descends from a windshield-obstruction statute about signs and posters: aftermarket film on the windshield and front side windows is barred outright, while rear side and rear glass are unrestricted. Every "New Jersey allows X%" figure online is either the medical-exemption number or invented. The fine under N.J.S.A. 39:3-79 is capped at $25 with no points, and the emissions-only inspection does not check tint.
