Bill S9226/A5306 (50% VLT, 7% tolerance) passed both houses in June 2026 but is UNSIGNED — 70% remains the enforced law. Tint is checked at annual inspection. The fine is capped at $150 by VTL 375(32), a court surcharge is added, and there are no license points because tint is an equipment offense rather than a moving violation.
